Military Family Resources

Educational Support

Military Child Education Coalition: The Military Child Education Coalition’s work is focused on ensuring quality educational opportunities for all military children affected by mobility, family separation and transition.
Tutor.com for Military Families: This program provides on-demand, online tutoring and homework help at no cost to eligible service members, civilian personnel and their dependents.
10 School Tips for Military Families with Gifted Children: This Military.com article provides tips for parents to advocate for their children that have been identified as Gifted.

Emotional Support

Real Warriors: The Real Warriors campaign promotes support for service members, veterans and military families coping with invisible wounds.
Sesame Street for Military Families: This outreach tool helps military families cope with the challenges of deployment and building resilience in times of separation and change.
Gold Star Family Resources: A 24/7 tragedy assistance resource for anyone who has suffered the loss of a military loved one. The organization hosts a variety of programs, including annual seminars, grief camp for children and young survivors, and peer-based emotional support.

Family Opportunities

Financial Support

Caring Like Angels and Heroes: This local community fund that can provide one-time financial support for veterans or active duty and their families facing a financial hardship.
Child Care Fee Relief: Military families that depend on childcare to go to work, work from home or work on education may be eligible to receive cost reimbursements up to $1,500.
Scholarships for Military Children: A total of 500 scholarship grants, each for $2,000, are awarded annually.

Local Support and Community

American Legion Post: Our local American Legion works towards helpfulness in the community.
Caring Like Angels and Heroes: This local community fund that can provide one-time financial support for veterans or active duty and their families facing a financial hardship.
Honor Flight Tri-State: This Cincinnati organization works to send World War II, Korean and Vietnam Veterans to Washington, D.C. and celebrates them when they arrive home.
Lakota East Veterans Network Twitter Handle (@LEHS4veterans): This student organization supports, celebrates and partners with local veterans as well as the Tri-State Honor Flight program.
West Chester VFW: Our local Veterans of Foreign Wars post supports Lakota Local Schools and its military community.
Yellow Ribbon Support Center: This local organization collects and sends care packages to all military deployed and helps identify employment resources for returning veterans.

American Legion Post: Our local American Legion is a patriotic organization that is working towards helpfulness in the community.
Supporting Ohio’s Military Families: The Ohio Department of Education offers several programs to assist military families.
Military One Source: Military One Source helps with information, answers, and support for military life.
West Chester VFW: Local Veterans of Foreign Wars post that supports Lakota Local Schools and its military community.
