November 12, 2019

  • Students – It is that time of the year that windshields will be frost covered in the morning.  Please take the time to defrost your windshields before you pull out of the driveway in the morning.  Get up early give yourselves plenty of time to make it into school safely and on time. 

  • Attention all student athletes who will be competing at the collegiate level. Information is now available in the Athletic Office for the Signing Day opportunities for the 2019-20 school year. The first opportunity is on November 13th for all student athletes who are guaranteed a spot on a collegiate roster. Please stop by the Athletic Office and pick up your packet? Please see Mr. Bryant with any questions.

  • Juniors and Seniors…If you are planning on going on a college visit you need to bring a note in to the Main Office prior to your visit.  All information regarding college visits can be found in the student planners on page 21.

  • World Kindness Day is Wednesday, November 13th.  The PTSO and Hope Squad teamed up to display a fun sign in the cafeteria that brings a great message to everyone. Feel free to Be the "I" in Kind.  Share your photos with us on Social Media

  • ASL Club will be meeting on TODAY to discuss a future service project.  Snacks will be provided and no club card is needed.  All ASL students are welcome.

  • The Animal Club will meet after school TODAY in room 121. There will be a presentation on fostering dogs by a guest speaker who runs a dog rescue.  Snacks provided.  Club card not needed.  Come join us! 

  • Dragonfly will be meeting TODAY after school in room 123.  Hope to see you there!

  • Come out this week for the last two Game of Life Sessions.  Wednesday meet in Room 270 to hear Britt Scearce talk about Credit Part 2.  He is coming back to continue his first sprint.  Feel free to stop in even if you missed the first.  Thursday meet in Room 270 to talk with Lisa Phair who will give you tips on finding your first apartment and signing a lease.  Sign up at bit.ly/eastgameoflife.

  • The East Chess team defeated Fairfield yesterday with a 3-2 score.    Colin Rakel, Roan Postich and Giancarlo Costanzo secured victories to earn a win for the team.

  • Seniors-Come out TODAY to Room 200 for our XH Game of Life Sprint this week in Room 200 for a discussion on Excellence and Ethics in the Workplace and Life.  TODAY is the only event this week due to the survey during XH on Thursday. Teachers please release seniors if they are interested in coming today.

  • The next meeting of the Drama Club will be held TODAY  from 3-4pm in the Main Campus Auditorium.  We’ll catch you up on how to be involved in what comes next—bring your club card!

  • What a weekend for our Lakota East Student Athletes!
    Congratulations to the Lakota East Dance Team on their 2nd place finish at the GMC Championships yesterday!

    Congratulations to the Boys Soccer Team who defeated Moeller on Saturday to advance to the Final Four in the State Of Ohio!!!!! Your Hawks play Olentangy Liberty on Wednesday night at Xenia. Ticket giveaways, spirit bus and spirit wear information will be available later today. Staff and Students - Clear your calendars Wednesday night - We made a difference Saturday and we will again Wednesday night!!!!!

    A huge congratulations to the Girls Cross Country Team on their 2nd place finish at the OHSAA state Championships. This runner-up finish is the highest finish in school history. Congratulations to the entire program both runners and coaches on a historic season.

  • Congratulations to the Boys Soccer Team on their District Championship over the weekend! The boys move into the Sweet 16 and will play Elder at Monroe HS Wednesday night at 7:00. The Athletic Boosters will once again be giving away 100 tickets - Please check twitter or listen to the announcements for when they will be available. We really need you support Wednesday night Hawks!!!!!!

  • Congratulations to the Marching Thunderhawks on a great performance at Lucas Oil Stadium on Friday afternoon.  There were 84 bands from 10 states and our Marching Thuderhawks were 18th place overall and only 2.12 points out of finals!  Catch their final complete performance of “To The Heavens” THIS Friday at halftime of the Varsity Football Game.

  • The Latin Club Halloween party is TODAY at 2:45 in room 200. Spooky fun will be had by all!

  • The Teens for Christ Bible Study will be held in room 110 TODAY   from 3:00-3:30! No club card is needed, snacks are provided and we would love to have you!

  • We will begin taking donations to fill Stockings for Troops. This is a program that provides packages to troops who are away at the holidays. Please bring donations of candy, gum, small games/playing cards that would fit in a stocking to either your social studies class or the main office. Please see your social studies teacher, Mrs. Barker or Mrs. Joseph for more details!

  • The East Chess team hosted Middletown yesterday and our Hawks swept all five boards securing a  5-0 victory.    Magnus Miller, Braden Kesterman, Colin Rakel, Roen Postich and Giancarlo Costanzo each earned a point contributing to the win.

  • Zumba for the Cure is TODAY from 7 to 9 in the gym!  There will be a contest for the best party in pink outfit.  Cost is $5 for students and $10 for adults.  Come ready to have fun!

  • JSA will be meeting TODAY in room 206 at 2:50! The meeting this week is Halloween themed, and will feature spooky debates like “Are ghosts real?” No club card is required.

  • The cafeteria will be selling organic lettuce/kale and spinach mix from Lakota East’s very own garden.  Stop by the cafeteria if you want a good salad.

  • Astronomy club will be having a galaxy themed Halloween party on Monday 3-4 in room 226! We will be making galaxy jars and playing games. Art supplies will be provided but please bring your own jar. No club card required, hope to see you there!

  • Congratulations to the Lakota East Boys Soccer Team on advancing to the District Championship. Your Hawks will play Beavercreek on Saturday night at Princeton HS with a chance to qualify into the Sweet 16. Information about tickets and spirit bus options will be available later this week.

  • What a weekend for Lakota East Athletics –  Congratulations to the boys soccer team on their second round victory in the OHSAA Tournament – The boys move onto play Turpin tomorrow night at Sycamore at 7:00

  • A huge shout out to the Girls Cross Country Team who won the 2019 SW District Title on Saturday! Congratulations goes out to Kelsi Harris, Carly Spletzer, Paxton Oberhaus, Danielle Horter, Cali Reynolds, Sarah Renfro and Josey Willis. The Girls Cross Country Team will move onto the Regional Championships this weekend in Troy. In addition, congratulations to sophomore Ashton Gibbs on his qualification to the OHSAA Regional Meet.

  • And last, but certainly not least…….Congratulations to both the Girls and the Boys Golf Teams on their third place finishes at the State Tournament – Congratulations to the Players and Coaches on excellent seasons!

  • If you are driving to school, you MUST have a parking pass. There are several vehicles in the parking lot that belong to students that do not have a permit.  Students vehicles that are found not to have a permit will be referred to the Administration Office.  To apply for a parking pass you will need to go to http://bit.ly/EastParkingPass

    Want to help out our local animal shelters?  Lakota East's Animal Club is conducting a donation drive right now through tomorrow, October 8th for the Animal Friends Humane Society. The list of needed items can be found on the bulletin boards around school, as well as in Mrs. Deak's classroom. Drop off your donations in the designated box in the Main Office. 

    Students, Please recycle ALL empty plastic bottles and aluminum cans and place them in the appropriate classroom containers.  Within the coming weeks, we will also have recycling containers in the cafeteria.  This will increase our volume of recycled items and decrease our volume of waste, while saving resources and energy.  Here’s some reminders:

They performed at the US Bank Arena September 2019 to a sold out show. Their 2019 home show will be held on Tomorrow, October 5th at The Thompson House in Newport, Kentucky. 

    If you are driving to school, you MUST have a parking pass.   • A huge Congratulations goes out to the Boys Golf Team on winning their sixth straight GMC Title yesterday. It was a complete team effort, with a huge putt on 18 Joe Wilson to seal the win. Congratulations to all of the players and coaches on their 6-PEAT!

  • School pictures for Juniors, Seniors and Sophomores that missed pictures at orientation will be today. Students will head down to get their pictures taken with their English class.
